An energy efficient control system for windows and sun protection that provides customised automation for blinds, awnings and external sunscreens. Suitable for various residential and commercial applications, as a predominantly standalone façade management system.

Product Description

Helioscreen Façade Management System provides automation for blinds, awnings and external sunscreens, and can be combined into fully integrated automated systems. The product is a standalone façade management system, although interface with a Building Management System (BMS) is possible (this is dealt with on a case-by-case basis).

The product exhibits a range of beneficial capabilities that provide customised and flexible façade management for homes and other buildings. For example: the capability to remotely control the system; multiple sensors allowing blinds to respond to climate and weather conditions, and manual override functions. Helioscreen Façade Management System can improve the wellbeing of building occupants by reducing heat and glare in internal spaces while allowing the options of individual or group control of settings. The product can also contribute to reductions in the demand for artificial lighting and air conditioning, thereby reducing electricity consumption, HVAC, plant size and associated greenhouse gas emissions.

Options

The Helioscreen façade management system is PC compatible only.

There are a range of programming / management options associated with the Helioscreen Façade Management System, such as:

• Configuring the hardware, e.g. number of zones
• Creating settings, e.g. wind thresholds
• Synchronising external and internal sensors, e.g. sun and wind sensors
• Programming the motors and switches

Expected Life

The Helioscreen Façade Management System software will last as long as updates are available and compatible with the computer setup. For example, the system is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista and preceding versions.

Green Star™ Pre-Assessment of Helioscreen Façade Management System

Under Green Star™ (Office Interiors and Office Design)- IEQ Daylight Glare Control, this credit criteria specifies that fabrics used in blinds and screens must have a visual light transmittance (VLT) of less than 10%.

Helioscreen Façade Management System is a standalone façade management system. However, modifications are possible allowing interface with a BMS.

Provided the above VLT specification is satisfied and the Helioscreen Façade Management System is connected to a BMS (or equivalent), the product may contribute to Green Star™ credit criteria, as the product provides an automatic control system that is able to function within a BMS, and is equipped with a manual override function accessible by occupants.

Green Star™ Office Interiors v1.1 Compatibility

IEQ-4 Daylight Glare Control

Use of Helioscreen Façade Management System, in conjunction with Helioscreen fabrics (e.g. Helio 86 or 93) and a BMS, may enable the achievement of 1 credit point.

NOTE - Fabric must have a VLT of less than 10%.

Green Star™ Office Design v2 Compatibility

IEQ-5 Daylight Glare Control

Use of Helioscreen Façade Management System, in conjunction with Helioscreen fabrics (e.g. Helio 86 or 93) and a BMS, may enable the achievement of 1 credit point.

NOTE - Fabric must have a VLT of less than 10%.

Ene-1 Energy Efficiency (conditional requirement)

Use of Helioscreen Façade Management System should contribute towards reduced energy consumption of the building if included in the building energy load modelling process.

Ene-2 Energy Improvements

Use of Helioscreen Façade Management System will improve overall energy efficiency of the building. This increased efficiency should be reflected in the energy load modelling process. (Maximum of 15 points can be achieved by improving energy efficiency in buildings.)
