Green Internal Blackout

The blinds in the Helioscreen Internal Blackout System are fitted to create a trapped air space between the glass and the system, providing reduced heat and glare, as well as increased thermal benefits, compared to loose hanging blind systems.

This snug fit can decrease heat loss during winter by preventing the warm air from moving behind the curtain and cooling down when it contacts the cold glass (and vice versa).

These thermal benefits may contribute to reductions in energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions, through reduced need for air conditioning, and hence plant size and operating costs.

Green Star™ Pre-Assessment of Helioscreen Internal Motorised Blackout System

Under Green Star™ (Office Interiors and Office Design) – IEQ Daylight Glare Control, this credit criteria specifies that fabrics used in blinds and screens must have a visual light transmittance of less than 10%.

Helioscreen’s motorised blackout systems are monitored with an automatic control system; equipped with a manual override function, and have a have a VLT of 0% – thereby allowing this product to contribute to the achievement of Green Star™ credit points.

IEQ-4 Daylight Glare Control

Use of the Motorised Blackout Roller Blind Systems, when connected to a BMS with manual override, will contribute to the achievement of 1 credit point as the blinds and screens will have a Visual Light Transmittance (VLT) of less than 10%.

IEQ-5 Daylight Glare Control

Use of the Motorised Blackout Roller Blind Systems, when connected to a BMS with manual override, will contribute to the achievement of 1 credit point as the blinds and screens will have a Visual Light Transmittance (VLT) of less than 10%.

Ene-1 Energy Efficiency (conditional requirement)

If Helioscreen blackout roller blind systems are installed in the base building, use of these systems may contribute towards reduced energy consumption of the building.

Ene-2 Energy Improvements

If Helioscreen blackout roller blind systems are installed in the base building, use of these systems may contribute towards improved overall energy efficiency of the building. This increased efficiency should be reflected in the energy load modelling process. (Maximum of 15 credit points can be achieved by improving energy efficiency in buildings).

Emi-7 Light Pollution

Use of Helioscreen blackout roller blind systems on a skylight or similar, in conjunction with programmed instructions to close when required by a BMS, may contribute to 1 credit point.
